A peanut butter and yellow mustard sandwich isn’t as bad as it sounds. I ate a lot of that as a kid. I once cooked up mac and cheese and decided to add broccoli to it, and then, what happens, a few months later, a big food corporation comes out with the same idea.

I also like blueberry jam and homemade pistachio butter, that’s not weird, though, just unusual.

@jonsblond oh it is! Pistachio butter is so easy to make, I don’t know why more people don’t try it. Peanut butter is blah after having pistachio butter. You can make nut butter out of about any kind of nut there is, except of course, the ones that ride around in your husband’s trousers, he might take offense at that.

I blissed out in LA with those fruit stands that included coconuts, cukes, melons of all kinds, citrus of all kinds, mangos, etc. topped with salt, chili, and lemon juice. I have been having a version of this every morning since I came back. So yummy.

This whole thread reminds me of this website.

@swimswimswim hot sauce (or salsa) goes good with everything. Well, except ice cream. I tried a habanero raspberry sauce made especially for ice cream. I wasn’t impressed.

Beaver. Again, if you don’t know me, you might think that is a joke answer, but alas, it is some very tasty meat. I mixed it with 20% bacon, garlic, salt, pepper, and rosemary to make sausage. Delicious!

@jonsblond Sorry ‘bout that. I first tried Mo’s Bacon Bar from Vosges. It was surprisingly good, but made with a deep milk chocolate. I prefer dark chocolate, so self-dipping is the way to go. Also, the Vosges is $7.50. 8^|

@dearest_prudence Are you talking about the sealed fish? I said I wouldn’t mind trying it…but ya gotta admit, it is typically “backwoods” – lol. Yeah, I know, so is beaver. I had my reservations on eating it since the guy I went hunting with never ate it in the years he had hunted them. He said the Sacramento Delta was too dirty and the beavers smelled too nasty (while alive). I gave him some of the sausage I made, and he loved it!

@JellyB I like to spread honey mustard on crackers with cheddar cheese, so I can imagine syrup or honey working quite well with grilled cheese. I bet my 5 year old daughter would love it!

Oh, sorry @JellyB, I saw the french fries and thought you said honey as well. It sounds worse with syrup, but I’ll try it. What kind of cheese is best with syrup? I usually go for cheddar on my grilled sandwiches.

I grew up eating peanut butter on my waffles, with extra syrup.

I loved peanut butter and syrup so much, that my mother would make a sandwich out of it, for me as my packed lunch. People thought I was quite bizarre. I didn’t care.

I like to melt a bit of sharp cheddar over apple pie.

@aprilsimnel my Dad always put a slice of cheddar on warm apple pie. I thought it was weird, but it’s pretty good.

It’s gotta be melted extra sharp cheddar and the apple pie has to be tart, not too sweet.

Actually, I have won awards for an apple pie I make that has the cheese baked in it. Yes, it is extra sharp cheddar, and I use Granny Smith apples and a touch of raspberry vinegar to make sure the apples are slightly tart.

@Blondesjon Actually the inventor was a pharmacist and so didn’t have a medical license, but he named it after someone who had one, a guy back in Virginia. Somehow Dr Pepper sounds better than Mr Alderton (the inventor), or what they called it first, a Waco, as in “Shoot me a Waco, son!”
