Walden and other writings by Thoreau. Normally I wouldn’t be able to answer a question like this, simply because it would be too difficult. But “annotations and all” makes it much easier. I don’t normally annotate books as I read them, but I have a copy of Walden that’s filled with my notes and thoughts. I’ve almost written my own book in the margins.
The Prankster’s Ultimate Handbook by Erik L. Buckman describes my sense of humor. No book encompasses all descriptions of me, because I haven’t found that book yet. It would be hard even if you asked for five books.
Great question, jmah! Really hard, too. I guess I’d have to fall back on my standard response and say To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus Finch is a fine person to model one’s standards on.
I hate to say this but it would be Girl Interrupted! I have certain “mental health issues” that make other people think I’m a little crazy but I know that I’m not crazy enough to give up just yet.
