When im not talking aloud i hear myself talking in my head. Its weird because its like im always talking even when im not moving my lips. Is that normal? Does that happen to other people or is it just me?

Everyone has an inner conversation going on.

My thoughts don’t really have a voice inside my head. When I think to myself it’s more like reading if that makes any sense.

It’s called an internal monologue.

“Internal monologue, also known as inner voice, internal speech, or stream of consciousness is thinking in words. It also refers to the semi-constant internal monologue one has with oneself at a conscious or semi-conscious level”.

glad to know that I am not crazy! I argue with myself over things I should have said to people when I was mad but didn’t. I am either having conversations with myself, or cussing at the kitchen sink. I have a terrible temper and if I said everything I wanted to, I would be in trouble all the time. Instead, I am just giving myself an ulcer trying to keep the peace in my home.

Does your inner voice sound like you or is it a different voice. You know, do you talk to yourself in James Earle Jones or your own voice?

mamabeverley's avatar

It is always my voice in some way, my “mom” voice or my you are such a “stupid dumb sh*&” voice. Do you guys have a “duh weren’t you listen” voice. Like, when somebody asks you a question and you just go… “duh already had this conversation and moved on?”

@VzzBzz
I Hear what i think is my voice.

I’d love to hear James Earl Jones in my head once in awhile. Usually its my voice, or my voice when I am doing voice inpersonations. I do those a lot. I suck at it, but it makes me laugh, so who cares?!

Truck drivers talk to themselves a lot, and that’s what I blame my constant outloud chatter with myself on. If people look at me weird, I usually slip into my Satanic voice and proclaim, “We need to find a more suitable host body.”

@evelyns_pet_zebra…That was you!?! My kids couldn’t sleep without the lights on for a month!

Don’t believe them! They’re all lying just to make you feel better. Really. The truth is that you are the only one in the entire universe who experiences that. Yeah. And it’s really weird, too!

also, just in case you were in the market, I’ve got this really great bridge I could sell you. I’ll give you a great deal in it! Fifty percent off (the doubled price)!

If you argue with yourself and lose, then what?

Did you forget your Lithium?

RedPowerLady's avatar

It’s perfectly normal as long as you know it’s happening and you know it’s your voice. :)

Ya I talk to myself in my head ALL the time. I am a very cognitive person.
