The quality is pretty sweet. I have Blu-Ray on my laptop that I plug in to my HD TV to watch movies. It really is amazing to see the crispness of it.
I paid an extra $150 for the Blu-Ray feature. I know I’ll be able to get a Blu-ray drive for $20 soon enough, but I was already buying a whole laptop, so the extra wasn’t that big of a difference. Would I pay $150 for a complete player? No, I’ll wait until the price comes down. As it is, I’ve only played a dozen discs on this thing in the past five months, but I’m still happy I got it on the system because I know that I’d need it and not have it if I didn’t get it.
Is it worth it to you? That depends on how patient you are, how much you earn, and if it’s a big deal to you when you learn that you paid for the development of the technology, instead of just the production and shipping costs like the guy who buys it for $20 a little later.
