I studied Aromatherapy and had to work on and get worked on by classmates. I did case studies as well. I had a sugar scrub with lemon once. Not a fun thing to do or to get done on.
For the carrier oils, we used grape seed, avocado and jojoba most of the time. For essential oils, well, the usual suspects – Lavender, Geranium, peppermint, rosemary, roman chamomile, tea tree oil, black pepper, and a few others. We limited ourselves with these oils first until we were very experienced with the usage.
We couldn’t afford the more expensive oils eg jasmine and rose otto so we didn’t use those.
Event though I have stopped lessons for a few years, I still use essential oils. Geranium reminds me of the first time anyone used it during a case. One drop filled the whole room with a wonderful scent.
Black Pepper will always remind me of sports.
Tea tree reminds me of my classmate washing the drinking cups and using tea tree to sterilise them!
