I shall be there probably for lunch and dinner. Flying off the next morning. Where is a good place to get the sourdough bread?

I’m no expert. I don’t live there. My sister does, though. There are lots of good little restaurants in The Mission and Chinatown, etc. Don’t automatically rule them out in favor of the big restaurants along the pier. Someone who lives there will probably be better at naming specific places. Have fun! I love SF. Such a great vibe there.

Go to Fisherman’s Wharf and make sure you get some fish ‘n chips. It’s the best!

Sourdough bread – any grocery store. Boudin Bakery makes about the best and Every market has it and you won’t pay an arm and a leg. As for what to do? Fisherman’s Wharf is a bit of a tourist trap but it really has the Feel of SF… and definitely have Crab… if you want a real taste of SF try Ciopinno… it’s an Italian seafood “stew” and was created in SF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cioppino you get to eat lovely seafood and dip that sourdough bread in the broth! The Dungeness crab is a local favorite. Oh – and I grew up in the Bay Area so that’s definitely HOME for me! Also wander around Ghirardelli Square and Pier 29. ENJOY – I’m jealous!

I used to live in SF for 12 years. I highly recommend eating at the House of Nan King. I personally would skip Fisherman’s Wharf as it’s a big tourist area. If the weather is nice, go to North Beach, Coit Tower, ride a cable car. Other options are the Museum of Modern Art. There are tons of great restaurants so you really can’t go wrong.

I live in SF! Visit me! lol

@mjchatter and @mwaters gave great advice. Except I think they meant Pier 39. Also, Union Square is a great place to go.

Walking thru the Golden Gate Park is beautiful; then fling yourself into the Pacific, removing only shoes.

The park is in the city and filled with architectural and botanical treasures – plus a find place to people-watch.

@Dansedescygnes You’re right… I Always get the Pier Wrong! LOL

Lol. Food is definitely on the list of to-dos. Will check out the little eateries. I hope I can find my way there.

Things to eat: Fish and Chips and Ciopinno AND sourdough bread.

Will check out the Pier.

I just hope that I am not hit too badly by air sickness to not be able to go out and play.

Thanks everyone.

Hey, Dansedescygnes, be my local guide and I’ll buy you Ciopinno.
