I think it depends on the person viewing. The videos I’ve seen make me glad I don’t listen to that type of music. Other people might aspire to be like what they see.

video gives another dimension to a song/artist…..and that’s across the board…..in the old days you had the radio, the newspaper etc….videos gave the artist a chance to express themselves in an additional way to help promote themselves and the music…for example you could get to see what the artist looked like more easily, you could see what message he/she was trying to create….

controversial music….videos give the artist to confirm and emphasize the direction he/she is trying to go in….or they can modify that controversy by producing something more palatable for the whole market, less controversial, more universal without necessarily changing the music…
