Gouda with water crackers ( do not forget the thin slicer for the gouda) and honey along with green seedless grapes and a lovely Chardonnay or Merlot. Can I come along?
Maybe keep it simple with a little this or that to spice it up a bit. Sourdough and jarlsburg, maybe some smoked salmon, sun dried tomatoes, a choice of two or three mustards (not for the smoked salmon, just in case), strawberries, pears and a nice Merlot or Shiraz and a choice of dark and milk chocolate. I don’t know how well you know the person your picnicing with so you might want a little variety to cover your bases.
If they have fire pits, take some wood with you, a couple of folding beach chairs (and a blanket) and a bottle of wine or a thermos full of your favorite cocktail. Have fun! See ya…wtf
wine, cheese and plenty of other salty treats like cold-cuts and durable pastas with sweet peppers and onions, crusty bread is a winner. be sure to finish with red grapes or other fruit. pack neatly and have plates will travel. stow away a few fruity beers in the cooler for “romps in the sand” antics as the evening progresses.
for the real adventurous, have sardines on hand with crackers. it will put some “riskiness” into your “friskiness.”
Don’t anything like sandwichs, it just doesn’t go over to good on a pic nic to a beach in my opinion
I would stick with fruits and cheese mabey some crackers.
Thanks for the recommendations, all. We went with seeded bread (still warm!), goat Gouda, St. Nectaire, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, green grapes, and sweet tea. Great suggestions :)
