I used to go to a lot of concerts when I was at university. Sometimes the concerts came to us on campus, too. Some of the ones I did get to see included:
The Doobie Brothers
Electric Light Orchestra
Blood, Sweat & Tears
Chicago
Earth, Wind & Fire
Van Halen
James Taylor
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Santana
Richie Havens
Jethro Tull
Dr. John, aka Dr. John the Night Tripper
Jefferson Airplane
Guess Who
Andres Segovia
Celia Cruz
Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine (back when they were the house band at Big Daddy’s)
Mongo Santamaria
B.B. King
John Sebastian
Kinky Friedman
Vienna Boys’ Choir
The Canadian Brass
P.D.Q. Bach (aka Peter Schikele)
David Munrow and the Early Music Consort of London
Waverly Consort
I even got to go to some of Leonard Bernstein’s children’s concerts as well as many, many other groups from all genres of music. Just about all of them were wonderful experiences, except for The Judds, who refused to come out of their bus for 2 hours because they didn’t like the way the venue was set up.
But I never got to see the Beatles live. However, I understand it would have been actually impossible to hear anything. Even they couldn’t hear anything above the screaming.
