It works great. I was on it for quite a while, but recently quit taking it.

It works well but no better than omeprazole and lansoprazole both of wich you should be able to get generic.

As a caveat to what @lightlyseared mentioned above: there is a lot of controversy regarding Nexium (esomeprazole) as it may be a mirror image of the predecessor Prilosec/Losec (omeprazole) and simply a marketing gimmick by AstraZeneca to raise prices and control the market. There are strong feelings on both sides of this issue. Some countries allow omeprazole to be sold over the counter, so you may be able to test its efficiency before shelling out the extra cash for Nexium. If you do this, keep in mind that omeprazole may take up to four days to take effect.

Does it have a generic yet? There are other drugs, like @Lightlyseared mentioned, but Nexium is different in that it is supposed to actually heal any damage in the esophagus from the reflux. If you don’t have that problem, save your money. I take an otc prilosec (omeprazole) every other day to keep my acid at bay. It was horrible, too. Give it a try.

I have been on both prilosec and nexium- they both have worked the same for me and I have severe reflux. I have choosen to stay with prilosec because nexium is pretty exspensive. however I do know some family and friends where one has worked but not the other. my mother-in-law does better with nexium. depends on the person.
