Well, I really didn’t realize that some people view it so negatively——I thought most folks just accepted whatever someone chooses to write or not, so I guess I can manage something.
However, I have a question (or perhaps just feedback) for the Mods. I have a very wide and eclectic range of interests and was dreading being inundated with an even. larger slew of questions tailor made for me by Fluther. I already have a whole bunch that are already there based upon no info at all other than my responses to other’s questions and haven’t even had the time to read through them. Plus many of the previous ones were really old but there was no way to know that until I clicked on them.
Is there any way for an individual to shut this feature off on their own acct. I assume that some people enjoy it, but I just find it unnecessarily tedious and superfluous. I just dread being flooded with even more of them based upon my profile. I am perfectly capable of reading thru the current list of questions on the site and making my own decisions on the ones to which I want to respond. I don’t need a computer algorithm to do it for me.
I do realize that I don’t have to respond to them, but it’s already irksome to see the whole bunch just sitting there week after week. Knowing that filling out the profile will just open the spigot for more is prob the biggest reason for my leaving it blank.
I guess I’m prob the only person who feels this way, but it certainly wouldn’t be the first time for quirky little ol’ me. The only thing I can liken it to is nag screens on an app which I will most likely never deem worthy to pay for the full version or the nag screen on a Forum for which I registered which keeps placing a large notice informing me that I still have yet to make a first post-as if I didn’t know that already or somehow constantly nagging me about it is going to get a favorable respone from me. We aren’t living in the Matrix yet——or maybe we are. I guess I’m a Luddite that way.
So, how do I shut the thing off or is that just an impossibility?
