19th of Av, 5769 is today’s date according to the Hebrew calendar (in contrast to 8th of August, 2009 in the Gregorian calendar). I must admit, I don’t know what the significance of it is, or even what Yom Aleph is.
I plan to make this Yom Aleph better than last Yom Aleph by recognizing that it is Yom Aleph. Also by sitting on my bum playing computer games.
Aleph is the first letter of the Aleph-bet, and stands for “One” or “First”. Yom means Day. Today is the first day of the week. Yesterday was Shabbat, tomorrow will be Yom Bet (Day two.)
