As a cautionary word, though, I think that only deactivates it, keeping your list of friends, wall posts, and everything else intact. The idea is that if you regret it you can always come back and it’ll be just the same as before.
So if you’re looking to erase all traces of your Facebook life from the world, this isn’t the solution.
@kyanblue What? Really? I’ve seen people deactivate before…it shows their names in black letters on comments they’ve made on my profile. So you can reactivate it whenever you want?
you can delete your account. Search for it in the help…
I believe that’s the only way to get at the delete, and they make sure to tell you about the whole deactivation bit… then they make you go through a “type delete in this box” process, but it will go through to deletion.
Thanks for all the information I have just deactivated my account and the site promised that it will delete the account in 14 days. I hope every trace of me will be deleted along with the account although I did not actually give it much information about myself anyway.
To those who are wondering why I am making this decision let me explain: I just thought that maybe I might use it but found that it was very incompatible with the voice-activated software I use and so I am more than happy to delete it as I have not become part of the Facebook community at all. I guess I was just curious and found that it was not for me after all. It’s quite nice to be able to close the door now.
