I had a treatment a few years back. They brushed my teeth with a chemical, focused a laser on them for ~15min. repeated that two more times the same day.
it worked. my teeth did whiten to a degree. however, for the first 48hrs after that, i had horrible, sharp pains in my teeth, that would come on suddenly. like, grab your jaw pain.
apparently, the chemicals open the pores in your teeth, and, well, that’s not fun.
Teeth are not naturally white. They’re naturally an off white/yellow.
White teeth are actually unhealthy (the whiter, the more unhealthy).
If you whiten your teeth, I would HIGHLY recommend something that “bleaches” your teeth, as the negative effects are less damaging, as basically you’re just dying your teeth.
i used crest whitestrips about 18 months ago. i did them for 2 weeks and they worked really well aside from tasting naaaaaaaaaasty. i believe that is supposed to last for about a year then you’re supposed to do them again but for the past year i’ve really stepped up my oral hygeine game. i brush my teeth 3 or 4 times a day and floss at least once a day and my teeth look better than ever!!
I had clear plastic molds made by the dentist and then used them for a short time each day with a gel also provided by the dentist. It was a gradual process that took six weeks. I still have the molds and can purchase more gel if and when I want to.
I also experienced pain after the procedure, and my teeth yellowed again about half as much as they used to be colored before the procedure after two years or so – but I didn’t do the occasional refreshers with the goo they send you home with. Ought to try that stuff again, actually.
