If you can moderate your drinking, then you can do what you want. A couple of glasses of wine with dinner actually may help your heart. Maybe only one, depending on where you are in life, and how your health is otherwise.
If you can’t moderate, then it could be quite problematic to drink. It can take over your life. It can hurt your relationships. Indeed, you may have to swear off the stuff, entirely in order to keep your addiction at bay.
I also think it’s important for people to get sick drunk at least once in their lives. I think it’s important to know what it feels like. I know it made me never want to experience that again. Maybe that won’t be the case for everyone.
But drinking serves a social purpose. This can work well, when it’s civilized, moderate drinking. It can be horrible when it’s drinking games at fraternities, and people are supposed to drink themselves blind. So, as always, it just depends.
