I have several on my list. These are so good that no matter how many times I’ve seen them, I’ve laughed again, sometimes as hard as the first time:
The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe (original French version, 1972)—I loved the absurdity of the whole movie, but the seduction scene fractured me.
The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980)—The rhinoceros.
The Money Pit (1986)—There’s more than one chain reaction scene, and they’re all great. I think the best one is the one that begins with plugging in the coffeepot and ends with the fountain spurting. When the family first watched this one together, we replayed that scene about six times in a row. I laughed as hard as the kids did.
Being John Malkovich (1999)—I loved the whole movie every time I saw it, but I don’t think anything in it, never mind in most other movies, comes close to the restaurant scene. The second time I saw it, I started cracking up before the scene even began.
Not quite of the first rank—nobody in my family said “She’s having one of her attacks”—but notable nonetheless:
Batteries Not Included (1987)—The neighborhood tough with the baseball bat goes into the shed on the roof.
