Well, in all the times I’ve visited Canada I have never even seen an igloo. Why would I think Canadians live in igloos when even most Inuit don’t any longer?
Do Canadians think Americans live in buffalo skin teepees?
I must admit, though, that when I was in London some years ago and the TV show Dallas was all the rage, several times when I admitted to living in Texas Brits asked me in all serious if I had ever met J.R. Ewing (I haven’t even met Larry Hagman, the actor who portrayed him).
Every country has its stereotypes, in part because to some degree at some point in time, there were folks who fit those stereotypes at least sometimes.
