Me! The last non-water drink I had was a beer (Keystone Ice) on Jan. 31, 2007. So it’s been almost three years. I used to get headaches several times a week from drinking diet soda, and I’d start to shake if I drank more than about a two-liter bottle per day. I’ve had maybe three headaches in all the time since I switched to water only. I sleep better and it’s easier to keep my weight down too. I am beginning to forget what soda and beer taste like, and I don’t miss them.
I also gave up all foods with sugar in them in Apr. 2008. In addition, I do not eat anything that is “dessert-like”: that is to say, sugar-free flavored yogurt and sugar-free gum. Sugar-free substances can really screw up the system because they fool the body into thinking sugar is being put into it, and excess insulin is produced when it shouldn’t be.
The reason I did these things is because I’m an avid exerciser. I have exercised at least five days a week for the last eighteen years, and I came to realize that it didn’t make sense to work so hard on my body, and then feed crap into it. If you own a Porsche, you don’t put low-grade unleaded gas into it, do you? Same principle.
I actually googled this subject since I was talking to my best friend last week, and I said, “I have drunk only water for nearly three years now. Who else does that?”
