It’s a mini, not a nano. I have never plugged it into my new computer and it’s been almost 2 years since I updated it. If I plug it into my new computer, which has updated iTunes, will my mini erase? Will it be okay? Will it even register in iTunes because it and the software is so old?

I do not want to lose my music.

In other words, wait until the joke won’t be funny…

It will see it.

But it might offer to transfer, or it might say that that it will delete it. Plug it in and see. It will ask before it does anything. Unplug it if you don’t know exactly what it will do.

Post what is says here and we can take a look.

If it doesn’t look good there are ways to get the music off the iPod.

Yay! I’ll do it tonight when I get home. I can always count on you JP.

I don’t have a Mini anymore so I can’t test what will happen.

It will register in iTunes.

iTunes will ask you if you want to erase your iPod and sync it with the new library. You probably want to say no.

iTunes may also ask if you want to install a software update to your mini, if there are any available. If you say yes, it shouldn’t erase any of the music on your mini.
