Are there firms that specialize in managing human capital aimed at revitalizing distressed businesses for near-term viability and long-term improvement?

* Question stems from my interest in distressed for control investing.

There are definitely people that do that kind of thing, but the impression I get is that they are individuals with years of experience who become independent business consultants.

Your use of the term “human capital’ makes me think of temporary placement agencies, such as Manpower and Volt. Is that what you had in mind?
