It’s impossible to tell what a double hug means without more specifics of the scenario of the first hug and his situation and mindset. Now I’m not saying this is the case, so don’t jump to conclusions, but imagine if you will, that the first hug was the normal hug and the second one was due to his believing that it was to be the final hug and he wanted to hold you close one more time and for an extra bit of time. This could be due to the change in your relationship, or him moving on or moving away, or who knows.
Please, for heaven’s sake don’t read anything of what I’m about to share as having anything to do with your situation, but being in the latter stages of a terminal disease, I have been guilty of a few double hugs and see many more ahead of me as I say good bye to family and friends. It’s something I’ve seen coming for sometime and thought I was prepared for, but it’s nothing you can truly prepare for. Its difficult, expends a lot of energy and emotion, but I’m grateful I was given the opportunity and time to tell loved ones how much I love them, to wish them well and have a sort of closure.
