Cosplayers, seamsters and quilters: What would you use in your "sewing survival kit"?

“Great Question” (1points)

I am making a “portable sewing survival kit” which will consist of a messenger bag with a number of built-in features for sewing supplies. I’ll be carrying this around at conventions as a way to keep a handy supply of costume-repair itms as well as things I pick up at the con.

I’ve already decided that I would have a place for scissors, a seam ripper, and a built-in pin cushion. In the convention aspect, I would also have a pocket for a camera and cell phone. My question is, what other features (especially sewing-related ones) would you want to have in such a bag? Also, where would you have them – in the innermost area or on an outside flap?

Thanks all!

Tape measure, thimble, packet of sharps, crochet hook (sized 00), magic disappearing marker, tailor’s chalk…my system is “all in a jumble” except for seam ripper. Wear the quilting hoop as a hat.

don’t forget a few different colors of thread – white and black for sure, plus a few other options.

If you’d have access to an iron, a packet of iron-on patches and seam tape could be a lifesaver in a costume accident emergency

safety pins, a few buttons of various sizes and colors, and maybe some (instant-dry) fabric glue, super glue, or fabric tape.

No-fray, of course!

Mini hot glue gun! It’s not really a “sewing” item, but it can definitely come in handy for costume repairs. I met a woman once who carried one in her purse at all times. Magical.
