Living in NYC, I’ve been to many places that appear in movies, though never for that reason. Hell, I was having chocolate milkshakes at the Seinfeld diner for weeks before someone pointed out to me where we were. I also live in Forest Hills, home of Spider-man (the movies, not surprisingly, were shot in a different area: Woodhaven Blvd. It’s not too far from where I am, but it has a different feel than Forest Hills).
One of the few times I’ve actively sought out a location mentioned somewhere was when I was in St. Petersburg, Russia, a few years back. I made it a point to walk around in the neighborhood where Raskolnikov lived in Crime and Punishment. It was pretty cool. The only other time I can think of right now is when I stopped by the Stardust hotel and casino in Las Vegas because it appeared in the movie Casino. It wasn’t nearly as nice as I expected it to be, but it is one of the older hotels on the strip.
