I currently have 5 cats, and two are sisters. Not one of them have the same fur texture or color. Of all the cats I’ve had in my life, I cannot remember any that had the same color, markings, and texture as any of the others.

Pure bred is not the issue. I’m talking about mixed cats. Genetically, are the colors, patterns and textures of cats infinitely variable?

I haven’t noticed this same pattern with dogs. Dogs tend to be a mix of traits depending on the breed mix, but cats seem to mix traits that become something new and unique.

Both scientific and anecdotal evidence is appreciated.
