Do you ever suffer from the disorder "Fluther-Mind"?

“Great Question” (4points)

Fluther-Mind is when you act or think a certain way because of Fluther, outside Fluther.

For example I mod comments on another site, and I noticed one day I was moding according to Fluther’s guidelines. Luckily I noticed. Another example is I will mention something someone said on Fluther as if it was a real life conversation I had with them in person.

So, do you find yourself doing something in real life according to Fluther’s standards? Does it effect the way you act at other sites? Do you address people differently? Do you have Fluther-Mind?

Sometimes, I yell “Great Answer” to/at people in real life

I write +5 in emails.

I do that too, if I see something on Fluther I’ll be talking to someone and say “I heard <blank> the other day…”

I’m always looking for the great answer button on Facebook.

I just got here, but I can totally see how that can happen. I wanted to “like” an email the other day. O_o

I’m already seeing a therapist.

Oh, another thing I do is while writing notes in class I will catch myself putting ”@” before an important person’s names. @Donatello, @Rothko, @Magritte. Although it does help me pick out the artists quickly.

I answered an e-mail from my boss in my “Fluther voice” the other day. Luckily, he’s a good friend.

I often will tell people, “I know someone in New Zealand, or this guy in Sweden wants to know….” when talking to them.

Also, I find my mind getting more and more fragmented and less and less able to focus for more than 15 minutes. Is it the Fluther or…?

And someone keeps telling me I’m going nuts.

Sometimes my
brain feels as if it has been replaced by a jelly fish.

patg7590's avatar

I do the @whomever thing on facebook; I don’t care that it isn’t actually supported

jonsblond's avatar

@janbb I do the same when talking to friends about people I know from Fluther. My favorite is “I know someone that is in Antarctica right now.” so cool!

janbb's avatar

@jonsblond “So cool.” Literally and figuratively!

patg7590's avatar

@jonsblond really? that’s awesome! Who is in Antarctica?

IBERnineD's avatar

I’m starting to think it isn’t something I “suffer” from. Seems like only good things come from this “disorder”, if I even want to call it that anymore…

@patg7590 Les

@janbb haha! I also see you beat me to answering @patg7590 :)

The @ thing!

I always start to put @so and so when typing an email, until I realize I’m not Fluthering.

casheroo's avatar

On other sites, I always want to say “lurve!” and give a GA.

JONESGH's avatar

sometimes i reference fluther discussions as if they happened with a group of people in real life.

Skippy's avatar

@JONESGH did just that earlier today. laughed quietly to myself, and the person I was speakig with in real life just stood in amazment that I knew “that’

RedPowerLady's avatar

I dream in Fluther. Does that count? Yes, I’m serious.

SheWasAll_'s avatar

I use discussions from here in my psych and sociology classes. They’re usually amazing examples and people think I have awesome friends. because I do. great question Jane!

IBERnineD's avatar

@SheWasAll_ aw why thank you roomie!!!

Clair's avatar

-I say lurve entirely too much.
-I also talk about fellow Flutherites in conversation with friends.
-I constantly think…“Hmmm, I wonder what @SOandSO would think about this?” or “I bet @SOandSO would be interested in this.
-As far as how Fluther affects me on other web sites, I’m lethargic. I have no desire to be on another site.

hearkat's avatar

I catch myself wanting to say or type “Lurve” very, very often!

augustlan's avatar

All. The. Time. Especially with the GAs. I want to GA everything. I also use the text formatting from here on facebook and in emails. Even though it’s not supported. Boo.

RedPowerLady's avatar

@augustlan I do that too. LOL. I wish that the text formatting here was universal for other sites, lol.

ru2bz46's avatar

I often refer to a group of friends as “my fluther”.

hungryhungryhortence's avatar

I also itch for a Great Answer option on another site when I read a comment I agree with to where I nothing new to add but want to acknowledge that poster or I read something that really made me think and ponder but I have nothing to say of my own. IRL, I’ve started to associate my core group of friends as “My Fluther” :)

When writing an email, I’ll use the underlines before and after a word to ittalicize – then catch myself.
