Do you think it is possible that ________ (fill in the blank) faked his/her death?

“Great Question” (4points)

There are many theories out there about famous people faking their death (or having others help them fake it) in order to start a new life: Michael Jackson, Hitler, Che, Elvis, Jesus, JFK, Tupac Shakur, Ken Lay, Machiavelli, Andy Kaufman, Marilyn Monroe, Patrick Mcdermott, Jim Morrison, Amelia Earhart, Rudolf Hess, Jesse James, etc.

Does anyone think that any of the theories out there have merit about the possibility that these (or other) famous people faked their own death. If you do, I’d love to hear why you think so.

Stupid jokes about Kermit the Frog and others are unwanted and unwelcome.

Andy Kaufman. Absolutely.
And I doubt we find out for 40 years.

I can only hope Jim Morrison faked his death and will come back for more performances.

The only one I’ve ever thought might have was Kurt Cobain.

I’m guessing it would be extremely hard to fake ones death if they were famous.

I hope Michael Jackson faked his. From the moment I heard that he died I thought he faked it. Well, I didn’t truly believe it was fake, but I hoped for his sake that he did. Kind of. But then I saw “This Is It” and now I’m pretty sure there’s no way he would have.

@deni I completely forgot he died.

My facebook status reads “I wish Michael Jackson would die. Completely, totally dead. Not doing a movie come-back, not on the news all the time, but completely and totally dead. SO over it all!”

I hope he is. Now if only everyone would stop digging him up to make a buck off of him…

If anyone had the willingness and tenacity to do such a thing it would certainly be Andy Kaufman.

There have been rumors since James Dean died that he faked his death. A couple of others I’ve heard this theory about: Bob Marley, Amelia Earhart, Princess Diana, Brian Jones, Marc Bolan, and Janis Joplin.

I’m fairly certain none of these theories hold any water, but it is kind of fun to imagine all of these people living on an some uncharted island together a la Gilligan’s Island.

@deni Because he was extremely over-hyped. He was harassed and stalked an stressed into becoming the person he was. We created the monster, so to speak, with the obsession that people had with him and the way he was not allowed to grow up normally (so he never did).

Some people are more concerned with the person he became than his art. He was a great artist, but he was a very damaged person. I’m more concerned with that aspect than the “OH SO AWESOME!”-ness. Or rainbows, kittens and unicorns. I’m not sad that he’s dead, maybe he can find peace that he never had here from the moment he became famous.

Micheal Jackson… and Elvis faked the same manner of death… In fact both are family and apparently died in their 50’s when they started going over the hill.
