200 words is nothing at all. go look on wikipedia or something.

You can get all the information you could possibly want on the subject by looking at its wikipedia entry use this website for homework research

sevenfourteen's avatar

good luck (I agree with wiki, b/c then you don’t have to worry about finding research… wiki knows all)

knitfroggy's avatar

Seriously, you could have Googled it faster than making a Fluther question! Kids today!

shego's avatar

that is easy. What grade are you in? Well, don’t respond back until your done.

Ivan's avatar

200 words is like 3 sentences.

nxknxk's avatar

(Sometimes brevity is the challenge, y’all. How do you reduce all the info on the Wall of China to 200 words?)

Let me be the first to discourage using Wikipedia as a source. Instead look at the sources that Wikipedia cites at the bottom of the page and use those. Although the assignment seems to be too trivial for this to even matter, it’s better not to develop bad habits like relying on Wikipedia.

I know this because I habitually rely on Wikipedia and it usually comes back to bite me in the ass.

holden's avatar

@Ivan those would be some pretty long sentences.

The Great Wall of China

First built in the 7th century B.C, rebuilt and maintained between the 6th century BC and the 16th century, the great wall was built to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire from Mongolian attacks during the rule of successive dynasties. The most famous is the wall built between 220–200 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang while little of it remains. The current wall was built during the Ming Dynasty. The Great Wall stretches over approximately 6,400 km (4,000 miles)from Shanhaiguan in the east to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia, but stretches to over 6,700 km (4,160 miles) in total. The Great Wall was first built in the 7th century B.C. when China was still divided into many small states. In order to save this cultural heritage of the human, many wise men suggest we should make the Great Wall better understood by the common people, make law to protect it and let the world to share the rich contents of the culture of China in the new century. The Great Wall offers a timeless charm to tourists, but scenery varies with seasons. Visit it in different time you will get a quite different scene.

@ctimm15
lol wow buddy you got that off google. aka here. Just write it dude, the time you spent trying to get @Likeradar ‘s you could’ve been done.

Likeradar's avatar

@JONESGH Hence my lack of sharing mine. That clearly wasn’t written by a self-proclaimed lazy 13 year old. Good catch. :)

@ctimm15 Quit trying to be a cheating little sneak and do your damn homework.

ctimm15's avatar

hey don’t be mean

Likeradar's avatar

@ctimm15 Hey, don’t be a plagiarizing little cheater and there will be no reason for anyone to call you that. Nice try trying to get me to post so you could turn in my work.

JONESGH's avatar

@ctimm15 go do your homework. plagiarizing can get you in big trouble.

ctimm15's avatar

i know

but still he shouldn’t be mean to me

JONESGH's avatar

@ctimm15 you shouldn’t try to get edit:her to do your homework.

Likeradar's avatar

@ctimm15 First, I’m a she.
And you trying to make this about me being “mean” instead of about your lame attempt to cheat and plagiarize my work and plagiarizing the site @JONESGH linked to is really silly, immature, and indicative of someone who needs to learn personal responsibility. If you keep it up you will be caught and probably kicked out of school eventually.
Man up, kid, and do your work.

Darwin's avatar

@ctimm15 – There is a reason why teachers want students to research and write essays. You might never have anything more to do with the Great Wall of China, but you will have gained experience on how to find out things, and how to write about what you found out.

Now, as others have said, go do your homework. And don’t rip it off from the web. Teachers aren’t as stupid as their students wish they were.

galileogirl's avatar

Sigh…If you aren’t in middle school your teacher is way too easy on you, I mean 200 words???

The basics
The only man made structure seen from space
how long, how many workers, engineering
materials
Protection against invaders say who

Dress it up with the eras of classical empires-Han Dynasty, great builders of infrastructure.
Compare to classical Rome and Jadrian’s wall-similar purpose

Big finish-failure in the long run Whether the Great Wall. Hadrian’s Wall. Berlin Wall, or the Fence across our southern border, none of them work, it’s about getting along with your neighbors

Next time do it Friday night not Sunday.

Not bad. There are some issues with punctuation and grammar that you need to look over.

For fifty more words, how about a paragraph describing how the Chinese people feel about their great wall?

ctimm15's avatar

can you help me with the punctuation

Ivan's avatar

@galileogirl

You can’t actually see it from space.

Darwin's avatar

@Ivan – Actually you can see the Great Wall from space, at least from low Earth orbit, but you have to look very closely and maybe squint a bit. Here take a look.
