Apple computer recommendations?

“Great Question” (0points)

My mom is looking to get a new computer, and she wants to get an Apple. She has an iMac that is old. Does anyone have any recommendations for a new Apple computer – she mostly does email and stores/prints photos, and some basic word processing. She doesn’t want to spend a lot of money though – definitely under $1000. Thanks in advance!

Under $1,000? Good luck with that.

Just the basic macbook would be perfect for her needs.

And the new mac mini is under $600… here

The basic Mac mini is a good basic machine, and only $600. If she doesn’t need a laptop, she’ll just just as much power (with a little less memory) for cheaper – although she will have to get a keyboard, mouse and monitor if she doesn’t have them already. I assume she does have a keyboard and mouse at least from her previous iMac, and a cheap monitor shouldn’t cost too much if you don’t get the Apple display, which is admittedly a bit expensive.

If she wants a desktop and already has a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and speakers, a Mini is a great option.

If she wants a laptop a refurbished MacBook would be great too.

Heck, I’d even buy a refurbished Mini. You still get the same warranty, can buy Apple Care, and Apple’s refurbs are practically brand new anyway.

You can also get a refurb display.. the wireless mouse and keyboard are both pretty inexpensive…

Mac mini or MacBook. If you are in college or work for the government or school, you can get your Mom a discount on her new computer!
