Maybe it’s different because I’m not straight and gay sexual relations aren’t exactly shown in the media and popular culture like straight sexual relations are, but I am not exactly bothered by it. When it’s in comedies, I find it funny. When it’s in songs, I barely notice it because I barely notice lyrics in the first place, but that’s just part of being a classical-lover at heart. Again, with clothes, it’s different because I’m a guy attracted to other guys and the clothing factor probably applies more to women.
However, there is something to be said for actually experiencing it for yourself. It’s a lot different than just what you see on TV and public displays of sexual things can never fully “show” what it’ll be like. Everyone has a different take on it. It doesn’t necessarily make you prude, but there’s just no comparing sex between a couple in person and sexual imagery in the media. I wouldn’t let the latter turn you off of the former.
I find this interesting, though, because America is a notoriously prude country in comparison with countries like Japan and European countries. I wonder what people in Europe think about sex where it isn’t as censored and made to be as taboo as it is here.
I’ll get back to you after I study abroad in Europe. :)
