I had one named “Batman.” My vet said statistically (and superstitiously, of course), that black cats named for the devil (Diablo, Dameon, Scratch, Lucifer, etc) seem to come to early demises.
And then when she’s naughty, you can say, “Hey, ‘bub! What do you think you’re doing?!” as you gingerly pull her tiny claws from your living room curtains.
@erichw1504 I’m sure someone likes that movie/book/end of the youth as we know it, but apparently on this question most of us don’t (so far, it seems).
All of my cats have credible human names, with the exception of one, who’s named Mister. I have to admit being more than a little amused when I’m at the vet and they use their first names and our last name. Even funnier was getting a prescription filled for one of the cats at Walgreens. Even the pharmacist was laughing.
Black Magic
Nightmare
Jynx
KoKo
Blackjack
Blackout
Spades(?)
Java
Mojo
Fia
Fortuna
and probably my favorite: Checkers
Although that last one kind of doesn’t apply to an all black cat, however I really like that name and I think it can be used for any cat. :)
My daughter says my reference might be too obscure, so let me explain.
My answer is Eartha Kitten.
Eartha Kitt, of course, was the black woman who played Cat-woman on the old Batman TV show.
