Dating anniversary coming up, what should I do for her?

It’s going to be our 6th year together in January. What are some special activities to do on this special day? It can be outdoors, although it will be pretty cold. We recently have gone skiing and saw a musical for past romantic days. What gift should I get her?

Also, if you know of any specific place near St. Louis, that would be awesome.

How would she feel about a romantic trip to a spa? Many spas offer couples packages ranging from a couple’s massage to a full day of pampering with lunch included. And if you really want to go over the top with it, you could book it in a nearby resort town so you can make a weekend get-away out of it.

If she is adventurous, I would say try something new that you two have never done. Ballroom dancing? kayaking? a big New Year’s weekend getaway at a large downtown hotel?

If she is a creature of habit, then restage something that was a favorite for both of you.

You can also put together a memory book of your six years together. She will treasure it.

I like the idea @Marina mentions of an overnight at a city hotel including room service breakfast the next morning with juice and champagne (if you drink). Maybe find one that has a whirlpool tub in the room so you can light some candles, pick some movies or bring your own DVD’s and have a relaxing night in after a fabulous dinner. I’m a jewelry and flowers girl, I still think those are a great gift. Many of us women balk at flowers because we know they die quickly but they are still beautiful and no longer exorbitant- you can buy them in any mini mart or grocery store if you don’t want to have a florist arrange and wrap them. I think it’s fantastic you think ahead and see your anniversary as special enough to celebrate :D

@Marina Thanks for the ideas. I did have dancing lessons in mind, but I just tried looking up places near where I live and couldn’t find any that were less than an hour away.

@erichw1504 I’m sorry I could not be more specific, but I think it is best that your solution come out of knowing her and knowing your relationship. Whatever you decide, I bet she will love it. To think about it and plan for it is a real sign of love!

Do you have carriage rides there? If so pack some hot coco and enjoy. I agree with Marina that she’ll love anything you do or get for her.

@gemiwing Hah! Did that last year.

I would spend a night in the city, staying in one of the nice hotels by the arch. I personally have had very good luck with Hotwire booking in Saint Louis. You could go down to the Landing and have them play her a song at the Big Bang (if she’s not the shy type).

A coworker of mine used to say ”(Valentine’s day/anniversary/whatever) is coming up soon.”

And we’d say “Oh? What are you going to do for your wife?”

And he’d say “I’m going to let her have sex with me.”

Make her candy from scratch. The effort you put into it will make her melt.
