I did a few years ago! The lack of editing was certainly an impediment to overcome. It blows me away, though, that he wrote it twice more from memory (see the epilogue/end notes). I’m glad I read it before “Slumdog” came out, because I felt it gave me a better understanding of slum life. I’m happy to discuss more.

@kevbo Glad someone has read it =). Yeah, the hardships he endured just to write the book are amazing. I read it before and after i saw slumdog and I appreciated the descriptions of slum life much more the second time. Although the editing was very limited I think it gave the book a more natural,rough feeling, which is fitting of the author.

@oratio not really. it was really the uncontrolled and ceaseless detail, which for some, made the book unappealing. Nothing was really cut out, which i appreciated, but again, some are irked by that.

@Medlang Huh… makes me think of Thomas Pynchon. He must have mistaken amphetamine with Splenda.

I enjoyed the book. I felt that it was a little shallow, as far as literary value, but it was definitely entertaining.
