What is the difference between a Silent Auction and a Chinese Auction?

Saw two different terms on brochures for Xmas fund-raisers.

In the silent auction bidders submit bids listing specific amounts that they are willing to pay for a specific item, rather than where in a chinese auction, people buy tickets, which are chances to win items.
