This March I will be going from Nashville to Los Angeles. I will take I-40 out there, and I-70 back. What should I stop and see?

Well, I am just a mile and half off of I40 :). Seriously, if you have not been to Graceland you must go, and also the Mississippi Mud River Museum is very good in Memphis (but check to see if all parts will be open, the replica of the Mississippi River is only open during warm months). The Clinton Library/Museum in Little Rock is fantastic.

If you will be in Memphis more than a day I can paste the links for all of the sights I usually send to people who are coming to visit.

Three places to go when taking I-40.

Go to Roswell. Just to say you have been there. Otherwise it is a lame town.

Go to the Aircraft bone yard. It is pretty cool.

While down that way. Stop over at Evergreen Air Center located at the Pinal Airpark in Arizona. Most of the Beechcraft Starships are stored there and owned by one person.

I actually moved out to Los Angeles last year from Philly, and I picked up my dad in Nasvhille so we took I-40 the whole way. Route 66 runs parallel to I-40, so when you stop in most places, you’ll get to see the sights of Route 66. I didn’t have a whole lot of time to stop along the way- but I thought the whole trip was pretty interesting nonetheless. You’ll travel through a few reservations in New Mexico, and a TON of small towns the entire way through. To be honest, just getting to experience the vast landscape changes (especially from New Mexico into Arizona) was really awesome all by itself.

Yes New Mexico into Arizona is unusual.

Stay, eat and/or have a drink at the La Posada hotel in Winslow, AZ. It is sublime.

Tour the Acoma Pueblo outside of Grants, NM, and maybe stop by the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM.

Check out Tinkertown Museum east of Albuquerque. Might as well drive the crest road to the top of the mountain while you are there.

The best Pork BBQ in the world is just off I-40. Bozo’s BBQ, Mason, TN, between Jackson and Memphis.

You pass close enough to the south rim of the Grand Canyon to make a quick stop. If you have an extra day, drive to the north rim. It is MUCH nicer.

@UScitizen I have never heard of Bozo’s. It is not very far from me. Thanks :).
