@MRSHINYSHOES It stops being cute after about five or six sessions of fighting a reluctant mutt in the bath for fifteen minutes, then having to clean the entire bathroom, then having to shower yourself and put all your clothes through the wash. ;)
@johnpowell – why do you answer dog questions if you hate them?
I have 3 dogs, 2 of them love to roll in anything stinky, thank goodness the 3rd one (an old akita) is much too dignified to engage in such activities. The other 2 are short haired and easy to wash so not too big a deal.
I think they do it because it smells good to them, they eat some pretty disgusting things as well.
I’m pretty sure that they do it because it smells like dead animal to them, and the “hunter” instinct in a dog tells them to roll in it to mask their own smell. Thus, they will be better at hunting prey.
My dog does it with things she kills but she’s an outdoor dog so it’s not a big deal.
Wow @johnpowell, I meant nothing, I just thought it was funny you even entered into a question about dogs if you hate them. It was a joke, so sorry if you found it offensive.
I love my dog, but to those who think it’s cute and lovable to have dead stink smell on your dog, then transferred to whatever he touches, you guys are just nuts. Nothing cute about it. As @richardhenry said it’s a pain to clean them, your bathroom, then yourself. At this point, I’m not calling my dog “sweetie”. I’m probably muttering mean things under my breath. @pjanaway You won’t be meeting my dog!
