If you see a person who bears an uncanny resemblance to someone, would you tell them?
When I was a sophomore in art school, my friends told me I had a doppelganger on campus, some freshman chick. They ended up introducing the two of us, which was really cool and I’m glad they did it. We talked and realized that we weren’t long-lost twins or anything, we just happened to be complete strangers who looked just like each other.
Another example: One of the baristas at my local starbucks looks just like Alex de Large from A Clockwork Orange. I keep covertly staring at him to see if I’m just imagining it, but no, it’s really Alex. He’s very polite, almost obsequious, and always calls me “miss” several times while taking my order. So I’m guessing this is after he’s been brainwashed. I’m half tempted to play Beethoven’s ninth on my phone or something to see if he freaks out. I kind of want to get this off my chest so I can stop staring at the guy, but I’m worried that he either gets this all the time or would think I was crazy, and then I’d have to find a new Starbucks.
Do you guys think unrelated people can really look that much alike? Would you point it out?
