Yes, I do. I’ve learned to do this more and more the older I get. Especially in my current job, I’ve learned that my co-workers seem to be offended by “know-it-alls”. I know this because we have another know-it-all in the office and they complain about that person all the time.
I find the whole thing fascinating because I’m actually drawn to people who would be considered “know-it-alls”. I’ve sought out smart people all my life because I love learning about almost anything and love to hear other people talk about a subject and ask them questions. As a know-it-all myself, I know that we smart people are really good at heart and love sharing knowledge with other people to help them.
At the lunch table I’d rather be talking about world hunger, politics, religion, art history, big ideas but I don’t bring those things up because I know everyone else just wants to talk about Brad & Angelina and Hollywood gossip. So, in an effort to connect with my co-workers, I keep it on that level.
