I’m very computer literate, always have been. I had a computer in the house from the time I was about 9 years old, and started out using text based DOS and writing simple programs in BASIC. Now when I click a button on the screen, I may not know every detail of what is going on, but I have some idea of what the underlying process is.
I also took quite a few computer science classes, so I have written programs in machine code on up.
I can write code pretty well in two languages, but could pick up any other without difficulty.
I can make a website, but I have no design skills so it would be ugly, and I couldn’t hand code it without extensively looking up a reference.
With a Windows XP or earlier machine I can trouble shoot a lot of basic problems, my wife calls me instead of her IT people for tech support.
With basic instructions I could build a computer from parts.
And most importantly, I can figure out how to use things by trial and error. We used to have pirated games for our old PC, and we had to figure out how to do everything because they didn’t come with instructions. I think that’s good for you.
