Apple designs almost flawless software (OS X, Final Cut Pro, etc, etc) but the laptop hardware often has strange issues. (e.g. iBook logic board, the MacBook “oven”). Often such problems arise from poor quality materials and parts. Also, why is it so expensive to replace the battery on iPods? I think the answer lies in the fact that Apple’s profit depends heavily on the so-called “planned obsolescence.” The company doesn’t encourage upgrades to existing hardware but throwing it in the trash heap and buying another one. I’m still an apple fan because I love the aesthetics and attention to detail, but What A Waste.
