“Great Question” (6points)

With the recent influx of ABers, I’d like to add more musicians to my fluther.

And WHAT do you play – instrument and genre?

Thanx!

Yes. Piano. Baritone in a large choir. I like almost all genres except the stuff that’s just boring dull repetitions or too close to a melange of noise. Otherwise everything from J.S. Bach to Queen and Supertramp to Enigma and Era to Nightwish and Within Temptation. I recently discovered Karl Jenkins. Good stuff.

Hey, I play guitar and double bass, and I sing too. I play jazz double bass, acoustic blues on guitar and i sing in a rock band. I make instruments for a living!

How about you?

I play classical guitar. My favorite song to play is Tears in the Rain. I used to own a Gibson Les Paul but I’m really bad at playing rock music and I felt bad playing shitty music on the greatest guitar ever. I gave it to my dad.

Yo! Stratman I’m a devout Strat player!! Love em to death! My 13 yrd old plays bass and my 10 yr old hammers the skins! All instrumentals mostly my own compositions as I don’t have the patience to learn others music. All in the SRV, Trower, Marino, Hendrix, power blues style mostly. I love the heavy shredders like Vai, Satriani etc. but my all time fav is Steve Morse.

I currently play bass for the church worship team. I started out on drums when I was a kid, picked up guitar along the way, and singing. I was worship leader for 22 years. LOVE playing with other musicians, especially in an orchestral setting. I played in the Singing Christmas Tree (a local production here) for two years in a row, and there’s nothing like contributing to such a huge sound!

If by ‘sucks at bass’, ‘is getting better at violin’ and ‘plays didgeridoo’, you mean ‘musician’, then yes, I’m a musician.

something is preventing me from adding Cruiser to my fluther, I’ll try again after lunch.

I play lead guitar. Have been for 15 years. I’m in a metal band and we’re gonna start playing shows soon.

I play keyboard, but I don’t think I am that good at it.

I’ve played guitar for about 6 years and in 3 different rock/alternative/punk bands and 1 metal/hardcore band. I’ve payed bass for about 5 years and played that in 1 band of the same similar style. I recently have taken up the drums and played my first show while playing them about a week ago. I’m playing drums in the band I’m currently with with is a stripped down band consisting of drums and an acoustic guitar doing southern rock/countryish music. Next week I’m going to buy a fiddle to begin learning for my current band. I’m pretty excited about that.

Acoustic 6 and 12 string guitar, piano/keyboards, dulcimer, harmonica, and electric bass. Played in an all women band for a number of years (real tight 4 part harmony, kind of folk-based, southern rock, covers and originals).

Guitar, bass, keyboards and harmonica. Played professionally until a few years ago when middle age, grandchildren and arthritis came into the picture. Mostly progressive rock, metal, fusion and classical rock. Still have my Parker Fly Deluxe, Marshall stack, Line6 AX2–212 stereo amp along with several keyboards and various synthesizers.

At the age of 14, i taught myself how to play the drums. i knew i had the talent to keep a beat, i just had to learn how to apply this talent to a set of drums. my first rock band was in the late 50s. four guys that were all green, just like me. we did okay. i had four rock and roll bands, altoghether. i finally went out on my own and became a studio drummer for many artists, back when music really began to catch on in Nashville. one of bands was used by Roy Orbison as his opening concert bands. that was a nice time. i still love playing the drums, but have slowed down considerably. i have some great memories.

@john65pennington wow you played with Roy Orbison?

Hell yeah! I’m a flutist – classically trained. Which reminds me, I need to pay for the headjoint which was on-loan to me this week…..agh, why do I love it so much that it makes me poor…??

Axemusica's avatar

@melanie81 “why do I love it so much that it makes me poor…??” Amen. lol

I figured you’d be an awesome guitarist, but you’ve got a great voice, too, @Jack79! Good on ya!

@Jack79 Great tunes there and you sound great!! Thanks for sharing

Yeah, I play guitar. I’m still playing the “not too tough” stuff, but I pratice all the time. I have a Epiphone Les Paul Standard with a Crate amp.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen this one earlier!

Started out at age 5 playing accordion (I could barely hold it, but I begged my older bro to teach me). We all sang at our house, parties were held in 3 or 4 part harmony. I took up French Horn at age 12, expanded to baritone and tuba. Learned Ukulele in high school, graduated to guitar, became voice major in college. Played 12-string and sang for awhile in New Orleans and Austin, and am now in the process of setting up my digital personal studio.

As soon as I get it all set up, I’ll share my stuff with the world (or at least w/the world wide webs).

OK I missed this one I think . .
I play guitar , bass guitar can play keyboard too , I would love to play violin , cello double bass . Tried drums but my hands don’t work right for them….

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

I play classical violin.

kariered's avatar

Viola was my primary in college, but I began on the violin when I was ten. I know the basics of the cello and I can play bass pretty decent (both bass guitar and double bass). I teach middle school orchestra.

Kayak8's avatar

I played bass with a band for years (also keyboards). I have a synthesizer for my own enjoyment and play 6 and 12 string guitar. At the moment, I am working on the slide whistle because my dogs just don’t quite know what to make of it. (Played double bass and percussion in high school).

stratman37's avatar

@Kayak8 – slide whistle, cool!
