I have a 1995 Toyota Lucida with central locking, but not Remote locking.
Is it possible to get a kit that I can fit myself?, from where? I am in the UK. anyone ever done this? is it seriously complicated?
All help appreciated.

According to this item, you can if you have power locks.

A woman at work had remote start added to her 1997 Honda Civic, which is also a nice feature. She can start her car in the driveway in the morning to warm it up, without having to go out and start the engine. Her son installed it for her.

@PandoraBoxx Will have a lookie at that.
Remote start sounds good too, I bet it’s expensive though!
lol

In the US you can buy a remote start system with door lock/unlock and trunk release for 150–200 USD installed. The kit itself cost 70–100 USD. You can install the kit yourself if you have some automotive talent.

Some remote start systems run can be controlled by iPhone apps, which I think is insanely cool.

@Fred931 Oh Yea! That would be over the top cool!
wonder if they have an app for the Droid…

I had a look at the kits available and found something on Ebay for £30. DOnt know how easy it would be to fit though so will ask around and see if anyone I know has any automotive knowledge, Cos I dont wanna break my car! lol

Appreciate the replies guys!

@PandoraBoxx
Will do, I reckon I’ll buy the kit just now and have a go at fitting it in the New Year though. (too much Christmassy stuff going on lol)

@scotsbloke I have installed several remote start kits. They aren’t hard but can be time consuming. You need to do the research to find out where and what color the wires are you need to connect to. Then you need to make the connections and make sure they are done correctly. Like you stated, if you mess it up you can break your car.

@csimme01 Ok, so now I’m worried! lol. If I email you the car and the kit would you do it for me? lol
I think I’ll be getting a pro to do it for me. to be safe.
