Do you have multiple personality types?

Personality types are general classifications of a person’s dominant way of relating to others. In each of us, certain traits are apparent in the way we handle relationships, approach work, tackle problems, and interpret our experiences.

In researching personality types I have found that I have a mixed blend of the four recognized personality types. I have traits from every one of the four possibilities. Is your personality the textbook definition of one of the four types or is it like mine, a mixed bag of traits? Which personality type best fits you? Which traits from the other types do you have?

Analytical Personality Type: Her reality consists of truths that can be weighed and measured. She is independent and works best alone. Her intellect is formidable, and she puts it to good use in seeking patterns and figuring out the hows and whys of the world around her. She embraces routine and predictability. She values knowledge, information, and facts.

Supporting Personality Type: The supporter is a facilitator and teacher. She is comfortable with herself and others, and is quick to offer advice, or assistance. Like the analyst, the supporter is interested in results. Her focus, however, is on the process, and on the personal growth that she and others experience along the way.

Emoting Personality Type: The emoter is a people person, too, but reality for her is defined by the quality of the journey, not the destination. She is highly intuitive and empathetic, tuned in to the emotional energy in relationships and situations. Emotional integrity is of utmost importance. The emoter values honesty and genuineness.

Directing Personality Type: She is assertive, confident, and highly independent. She is driven and authoritative. Her greatest strength is in conceptualizing, planning and implementing. She is equally at home with others and on her own. While the journey is important, results matter most.
