Why are the trees screaming?

“Great Question” (3points)

I’m starting to develop a new hallucination, when I’m near a cut tree I can hear it screaming.
I don’t go near tree lots
why do you think my brain would associate screaming with cut trees?
I’m not an environmentalist, or a tree huger ( I really couldn’t care less about the welfare of trees) It’s just…weird and annoying..

Have you stopped taking your meds?
That can cause new hallucinations.
It might be time to check in with your doctor again to re-evaluate your current treatment(s)

mrentropy's avatar

Perhaps they were playing live in a nearby park?

tyrantxseries's avatar

@csimme01
No, I always take my meds

@mrentropy Who was playing in a park??

This isn’t new/new it started last year, here and there, now it’s almost every tree inspiration to me Christmas tree questions

I get that too! Reminds me of an episode of Friends tv show where pheebs was doing that too and they have a dinner party and have the apartment full of dead tree’s rescued from the grinder!

Dammit! @mrentropy beat me to the Screaming Trees reference! GAx2

where are all the helpful people tonight?

csimme01's avatar

@tyrantxseries At least you understand this is not supposed to be happening. We are not Doctors here but I would suggest you contact your Dr and discuss with Him/Her. There may be a simple solution. The concern I have for you is this could be the beginning of something not good for you. If you don’t get it checked out soon it may become something that makes you unhealthy and unable to take care of yourself.

I once thought a tree was screaming during a pretty good LSD trip.

We eventually realized it was a nearby electrical transformer.

Freedom_Issues's avatar

It probably has something to do with the tree being once alive and then getting chopped and now is dead. I don’t think it matters if you are an environmentalist or not.

@csimme01 I’ve already called my doctor before asking this question but as it is 8pm here, he will get back to me whenever. I’m not looking for a dr analysis, just a gereral why do think this would happen…

@tyrantxseries I’m sorry that you aren’t getting the help you want right now. As a doctor (but not a psychiatrist), I can tell you that sometimes, despite 100% adherence to medications, people can go on to develop new symptoms. This could be due to a number of reasons, including initiation of a new medication that interacts with your other ones, development of depression with psychotic features, or perhaps that your body has become tolerant to your current dose of medication. You might require a higher dose of your current medicine, or a change to a new medication, but certainly a full evaluation by a psychiatrist is in order. Best wishes.

tyrantxseries's avatar

@shilolo thanks, I’ll see what my dr says when he gets back to me.

troubleinharlem's avatar

I’ve heard about people having this…
Let’s ask House! :3

csimme01's avatar

@tyrantxseries I think @shilolo has some great things to say. I would suggest getting some friends together and find some stuff to keep you busy. If you can find a place without trees it would even be better. I not, see if you can stay in a room without a tree and/or play some music to drown out the screaming.

gemiwing's avatar

I second what @shilolo said. Sometimes meds need a tweak- especially psych meds.

Try to keep yourself calm and relaxed. No need to worry about it until the doc calls you back.

Is it bad screaming trees, like they’re coming after you, or is it death screams of the trees? There is a big environmental movement these days, as you are well aware, and a lot of people believe the trees do scream when they are cut down. Maybe your brain is suggesting you should pay more attention to environmentalism or your interconnectedness with the natural world.

Is hallucination interpretation like dream interpretation? I forgot your other hallucinations—are you the one with the nasty people? You must be. It’s like I know all that many schizophrenics, although you are not the only one.

All this advice to take your meds or see a shrink to get them adjusted—while I think it is well-intended, I find it kind of annoying, as if we don’t really have a choice about whether we experience symptoms or not. I didn’t like my symptoms the first time around, so I took my meds. Now that I understand what is going on, I’m not sure I’ll be jumping into the shrink’s office at the drop of a mania.

I don’t know what your relationship to your hallucinations is, @tyrantxseries, but I would be willing to entertain the idea that you might kind of find them tolerable for a bit, just because you want to see what will happen. If they bother you, then I’m totally with the others in urging you to get a med check. Oh wait. Stupid. [daloon knocks himself on his head] You already are.

See, that’s one of the reasons I would like to not take meds. My memory is developing more and more holes. When I went off my Lithium, I did not get my memory back, but at least it wasn’t getting worse. Now it’s deteriorating faster again. By the time my kids are in college,, I’ll probably be a blithering idiot. [No offense to idiots.]

Polly_Math's avatar

Because nobody can hear them.

tyrantxseries's avatar

ok, thank you everyone for your concern, I am fine(ish) I’m not going to have an episode because of trees screaming, the only reason I asked this is because I found it odd that my brain put trees and screaming together…odd more so than usual… this isn’t new, every once and a wile a new hallucination pops up for a bit then vanishes, but most of them make sense (more or less)
@daloon no my hallucinations arn’t bad, they are smartypants and rude but not bad lol, the only reason I called him this time(I usually don’t) is because of how weird it is..

filmfann's avatar

I remember watching an educational film (about 40 years ago), that talked about flowers sending out a vibration when they are picked, which could be interpeted as a scream. Sounds like the same thing.

tyrantxseries's avatar

no, this is more of a “bloody murder” scream

pouncey's avatar

they are?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

Are you the Lorax??

MRSHINYSHOES's avatar

It’s probably because it’s too cold outside. Up here in northern Canada, it gets so cold in winter that some trees literally “pop” or “explode”——caused by water expansion due to freezing temperatures. If you live out in a cabin in the forest, you can here these “screams” once in awhile, especially when the temperatures dip below minus 15 F. or minus 40 Celsius.

rhodes54's avatar

Because they’ve been raised to believe that if they fell in a forest and no one was around to hear them, they wouldn’t make a sound.

loser's avatar

Damn, that’s gotta be pretty annoying!

filmfann's avatar

Don’t worry. Their bark is worse than their bite.

surprised no one said that yet

Ron_C's avatar

@filmfann good one.

@tyrantxseries joking aside, the only people that, in my experience, had similar problems were having LSD flashbacks. If you are truly taking medications they are not working or causing the problem. I suggest (as a complete novice in the subject) that you get medical help as soon as possible. This may only be the beginning of further health problems. Good luck, and I hope that you get help soon.

Are you serious? Trees are alive, that’s true… but trees don’t have feelings… How does a tree feel everyday then? “I’m a tree, and I want to stand here forever… Yay Me!!!” I mean come on, trees don’t have feelings or an ultra high pitch sound they make when they get cut down. Yes they die when people cut them down… do they feel it? No. www.treespecialist.com
