I picked up an injured pigeon the other day and about three or four grey flies flew out from under the pigeon’s wings and attacked me. They were smaller than a housefly and were a mottled grey colour.

Ugh. We’ve euthanized injured raptors at the clinic and had the louse flies abandon the cooling bodies and zero in on us. I have to admit it gives me the heebie jeebies (and I have been know to scream like a girl while ducking dive bombing flies).
