Does anyone have suggestions for Middle Eastern style music?

“Great Question” (2points)

Once upon a time, I had several Persian friends, and they always had the best dancing music. I’m not in touch with them anymore, but I would love to find some more of that style of music.

I’m looking particularly for Persian music, as I love the Farsi language, but I’m also interested in Arabic/Saudi, Moorish influenced, Hebrew, and even Indian (yes, I’m aware India isn’t in the Middle East).

Thanks!! ^_^

Putumayo has a series called “The Rough Guide To…” a large and varied collection of World Music. If there is A Rough Guide To Middle Eastern Music (I’m sure you can check on Amazon) that might be a great starting point.

The only Middle Eastern music I’ve ever listened to has been Lebanese pop music, which of course, still has that Middle Eastern sound. Nelly Makdessi/Makdessy, Nancy Ajram, Wael Jassar, etc.
