And I would say people associate the words together because when Anarchy takes place “a state of society without government or law” people dont act normal. They lash out and do things they wouldnt normally do if “rules” were set in place.

Yes.
Because people, in general, care about themselves more than they do about other people. Anarchy is a total lack of laws. Without laws, people will go actively show how much they care about themselves and how little they care about others (Some people do this with laws, too!).

Personally, I think of young adults in college and coffee shops talking about anarchy in an idealistic way. Ah, reminds me of my youth.

I don’t associate it with those things, because I know more than the superficial and politically corrupted meaning of the word. Because the true meaning of the word is something akin to without rulers/governments and because it was a credible political movement, with society organised on the lines of a free association of individuals , it was probably seen as a serious threat to ruling elites and therefore had to be trashed and discredited. Hence the now widespread misconception.

I’d rather answer, “What do you associate with anarchy? Or, “Why do people often associate anarchy with chaos and mayhem?” Because I don’t exactly feel this way.

I believe that pure anarchy couldn’t last for long. If there are no rules and laws, whoever is the strongest and best organized will eventually establish rule over those who are less able to defend themselves. Or the weak would band together to protect themselves and their families. People would realize that it’s easier to trade for goods and services than do everything themselves. We’d have some kind of government and society again soon enough.

Anarchy is total bullshit, that’s why. It doesn’t encompass “chaos and disorder”, that’s just the Punk glorification spawned from being arrested for panhandling.

Anarchy represents a world without society, which is literally impossible when you consider it literally.

Say we fucked up the government and laws as we know them ceased to exist…well, you and a friend will get together to survive. Because if you don’t, I’ll shoot you in the head; just cuz I can. So, you’ll band with people against me, in order to be safe.
To further and maintain said security against others such as I, you’ll get together with other folks, and henceforth, you build what is essentially the pillars of a society.

Society can never not exist, unless you become a hermit and use tree bark as asswipe while you wait to die somewhere on your own in the woods. And essentially, take away the glorification spewed forth by so called “Punks” who’s parents buy them two hundred dollar combat boots, and it defines the absence of society.

The idea here is that law and its oppression should be destroyed for freedom, but you need those factors if you’re gonna live, and no matter what shape it takes, humans together organizing something is a society.

I don’t think of anarchy as mayhem and chaos, but rather as shock value and bullshit.
