How would this question be handled on Fluther?

“Great Question” (18points)

The question is: “I want to download some water?”

I stumbled upon this question while in the chat room when the topic of the Fluther wiki came up. I asked how long a question like this could last on Fluther and was “double dog dared” by both @J0E and @RareDenver to post it. The rest of the question description should read: “is there any hardware, software that i can download water from internet. well i that hardware make water from internet”

My question is how would Jellies react to someone who asked this in a serious tone… who actually wanted to download water. Would everyone jump in with funny answers? would people just flag it and be done with it? would someone actually try and come up with a solution if this weren’t modded in 5 minutes? (like my original question lol)

I’m trying to, but I just can’t think of anything witty that will measure up to this question.

Downloading water? Isn’t that the same thing as urinating? ;-)

Dr_C's avatar

I thought I should add the top rated answer just for kicks:
“Yes there are hardware and software that can download and get water from the internet.

1) Download as many viruses as you can to your system to get your cpu and your system overheat.

2) use something really cold to cool your system down, such as compressed gas, or dry ice.

3) condensation from those first two will give you water. If it doesn’t work, do number 2 first then number 1. 100% guarantee, you will get water.”

@Dr_Dredd Downloading would be drinking. Urinating would be uploading it, to the toilet.

Press Alt + F4.

I’m thinking urinating is downloading it from your body into the toilet. (And it goes in the direction of gravity, which is down.)

I can’t believe I’m actually writing this. :-)

@Dr_Dredd that’s ok.. I can’t believe I asked :P

@Master0fPuppets wow, that makes me thirsty.

And similar to @Dr_Dredd getting water from the computer, downloading water from the computer….drinking water.

Dear friend,

Click Water and water will appear ready for you to download.
Please download only what you need, so others can have water too.
Take note: This is natural water, please boil before drinking for your best health!

Isn’t getting water from the internet a bit like getting water from a stone, but in software form?

Dr_C's avatar

@Darwin i think you’re getting the idea

In France you can press the letter O on your keyboard.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. I would assume it was some bored 13yr old that snuck on the site and ignored it quickly. ;-)

Downloading water would fill up a hard drive quicker than being a dedicated peer-to-peer movie fanatic.

Take some water from the kitchen and pour it on the motherboard.

I would tell a shaggy dog story. Too bad this is only a meta-question.

As you all know, I never meta-question I didn’t like.

If this question had jut popped up on fluther without explanation, it may very well have been handled like This Question

As a moderator on another site, I would simply flag as nonsense.

You want to download some water?

Easy. Step in front of a replicator. Ask for water. Bit stream gets downloaded from the central computer core. Matter materializing unit springs into action. Water molecules form inside a glass. VoilĂ .

Dr_Dredd's avatar

Or, you could go even further and say, “Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.” :-)

Dr_C's avatar

@mattbrowne & @Dr_Dredd mad geek love for those answers!
ps I am a lover of earl grey.. it’s my favorite breakfast tea!

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@Dr_Dredd Why Jean-Luc, how did you find your way here? Maybe you want to chase that down with some Blood wine? Hee hee hee

Dear readers,

Albert Einstein once said E = mc^2.
Where E is energy, m is mass and c is the speed of light.
This means that the mass of a body is a measure of its energy content.

The molecule of water is H 2 O.
We can see the relative mass of H and O by looking at the periodic table. It’s 1 for H and 16 for O.

2 x 1 + 16 = 18

We now know the relative mass of water molecules (=18).

To know the actual mass of the molecule we now multiply the 18 by 1.66 x 10^-27 kg

Excellent! Now that we know the mass and insert it into Albert Einstein’s equation we can calculate it into energy to be able to actually send it trough the internet!

Eureka! We actually know the amount of energy that equals water!!

Using this we can finally download water in energy form by having someone send it to us trough “the wire”.

Congradulations! You now know how to actually download water!

@TheMarquis: That, sir… is by far the best answer I could have hoped for. Thank you.
