A guy would be Sir Job Sandy. What would a knighted person like, say, Mother Teresa or Jane Doe be called?
Dame. Like Dame Judi Dench.
lady….
Lady matches Lord, not knighthood.
@EmpressPixie : ohhh. How come dame isn’t used as much? I always hear Sir Richard Branson, but I don’t hear Dame Judy Dench.
@EmpressPixie has got it.
The wife of a knight is a Lady; a female knight is a dame. Examples: Dame Judi Dench was knighted and Heather Mills was Lady McCartney.
@troubleinharlem: She gets called that a lot in movie billing these days. I love hearing it too because I think she’s a great actress and, honestly, I just enjoy the way it rolls off the tongue.
@EmpressPixie She’s got it.
@EmpressPixie ; if you get divorced… does the name stay?
a ‘kday’
That Judi Dench is quite a Dame.
A Knunt.
i am so, so very sorry. i can’t help it sometimes.
Gladys, of course!
@sliceswiththings Oh – you’re a pip!
(@sliceswiththings and @janbb: That right there is one of the main reasons why I Lurve Fluther! Thanks for the LOL4rl!)
Knightie?
Anytime, @hearkat :) I wonder how many jellies have no idea what we’re talking about.
@sliceswiththings Indeedy.
@janbb and @sliceswiththings Dame Edna?
Knightley? .. like Kiera?
Dame is right.
A peasants worst nightmare if they are impudent and the Dame is PMS-ing. referring to the smiting with swords and other pointy stuff
