I ordered two books last week. They were both for my Financial accounting class, one was the text book and the other was the study guide. The text shipped in an official Chegg box, the study guide shipped separately (I believe from a different location). Its weird.

Yup, they’ll do that. This happened to me and I was confused enough that I contacted them. They told me that if they don’t have the book in their own warehouse, they’ll get it from someone else and have it sent directly to you. It saves you time because it doesn’t have to ship to Chegg and then you, and (I would guess) saves Chegg from paying for the shipment to their warehouse.

This is not unusual. Many companies do what is called “drop shipping” as it saves both time and additional expense.

But many times it has the name and address of the company from whom you ordered it so it appears that they sent it.

Ok, I feel much better. I’ve had a rough week getting back on track at school and that was the last thing I needed. I frantically was searching my email to find out if I did order the books wrong. The one that said Chegg sent was in their nice orange box but the other was just in a brown shipping envolope.

Hello, I am a Chegg customer service team member. I would be happy to clear up any confusion. Chegg may ship directly from the Chegg warehouse, or they may use a 3rd party shipper. Don’t worry though, the returns are simple because they will always go back to Chegg using their prepaid UPS shipping label.
