During our 2008 summer vacation on the island of Santorini we made an usual experience. We were taking a boat trip stopping at some of the nearby smaller islands. Our group of tourists was very international and the travel guide made her announcements in several languages such as Greek, English, French, German and Italian. We couldn’t understand the Greek version, but all the others, and during one stop we were told to be back at the embarkation point at 11:15. But there was one exception: the Italians were told to be back at 11.
Bad translation? Well, some Italians do have a reputation for being late and it was the only explanation we could come up with. The boat left around 11:20.
